Runners from southeast Essex taking part in this year’s London Marathon on Sunday, 27th April can benefit from free train travel to and from the capital being provided by train operator c2c.
Participants in the Marathon do not need to obtain tickets.
To claim free travel, runners simply need to show their official race number or finisher’s medal to c2c colleagues at both their departure and arrival stations.
For anyone intending to travel to London to support those taking part in the event, they can save 40% on off-peak return fares by purchasing their tickets three or more days in advance online or by clicking here.
For anyone who wishes to repeat the feats of the runners in the London Marathon, c2c has its own fitness challenge with its own Ultra marathon on Saturday 13 September in partnership with the Gold Geese charity.
The Ultra marathon is being held to support the charity’s annual Go Gold campaign as part of the fundraising activities during the annual Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
Gold Geese is based in southeast Essex and provides support to young children who have either been or are living with cancer, including receiving treatment or recovering from the disease.
c2c also supports the charity with a Class 357 electric unit adorned with a special Gold Geese livery.

“As a keen runner myself, I am delighted to be able to offer our participating customers free transport on the c2c line for the London Marathon again this year. The number of good causes and charities that are being supported by runners across the UK and in our local communities is incredible to see, and I would like to personally wish everybody running in the 2025 London Marathon the best of luck! If you want to go that extra few miles (literally), everybody is welcome to sign up to our Ultra Marathon in September, where we ll be running and walking in aid of our local children’s cancer charity, Gold Geese”
