Over the Easter weekend, from Easter Saturday, 19th to Easter Monday, 21st April, train services will be disrupted when a new entrance is built at Mirfield Station in West Yorkshire, and the station platforms are reconstructed.
The work is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade and will affect train services across the Pennines.
The reconstructed platforms will allow an additional line to be laid through the station to enable its use by more trains.

A new station entrance concourse will be constructed on Station Road, and a new, accessible footbridge incorporating lifts will be built, providing step-free access from the road to the platform level.
Outside the station, the station car park will be upgraded with new blue badge parking areas and better cycle parking facilities.
To allow preparatory works to take place, on Saturday nights leading up to Easter weekend, Station Road in Mirfield will be closed but pedestrian access will be maintained during station opening hours whilst trains are running.
There will also be no effect on access to Lidl or the Navigation Tavern, as access to these establishments will remain open.

However, Station Road will be closed completely over the Easter weekend, resulting in a longer walk than normal from the station to rail replacement bus stop locations in Huddersfield Road.
The work will inevitably cause disruption to train services over the Easter weekend, and customers intending to travel should plan their journeys before travelling at nationalrail.co.uk. During the closure of Mirfield station, amended timetables will be in operation, some trains will be diverted, and rail replacement bus services will provide alternative travel arrangements.
There will also be disruption between Huddersfield and Dewsbury, whilst Transpennine Route Upgrade engineers carry out track renewals and test signals.
The Transpennine Route Upgrade often affects train services on the line, with services between Huddersfield and Leeds being diverted for three weeks in March, and for one week in April 2024, when services between Huddersfield and Ravensthorpe were diverted.
“We’re aware that disruption isn t ideal, so we would like to thank the people of Mirfield and beyond for their understanding as we continue our progress in delivering major upgrades to the station. By the end of 2025, Mirfield station will have modernised facilities with faster, more frequent trains able to stop there in the future, meaning improved journeys across the North. Please plan any journeys ahead of time, as both the station and Station Road will be closed. Engineering work elsewhere on the route will also impact services across the Pennines.”
