£184,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund has been given to the Didcot Railway Centre towards the cost of restoring its Engine Shed.

Built in 1932, the Engine Shed is a Grade II listed structure and is the last remaining example of its type in the UK.

With the funding the building will be fully restored along with a range of events.

Clive Hetherington from Didcot Railway Centre said: “The significance of this restoration project extends beyond the walls of the museum. It represents a commitment to preserving a vital piece of national, industrial and transport heritage — a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of a bygone era.
