Parts of the Greater Anglia rail network in Essex and Cambridgeshire, and the c2c rail network in Essex, will be severely disrupted by engineering work from Good Friday, 18th to Easter Monday, 21st April.
Great Eastern main line
Between Shenfield and Colchester from Easter Saturday, 19th, to Easter Monday, 21st April:
- Between Chelmsford and Hatfield Peverel, track and a crossover will be renewed.
- Chelmsford station, the track will be tamped and ballast packed under the track.
- At Brickhouse near Chelmsford, a redundant crossover will be removed.
- At Marks Tey, worn-out points will be replaced, and new track will be tamped, welded, and stressed.
- At Chitts Hill, Colchester, an embankment will be stabilised.

Service Alterations:
- Buses will replace Greater Anglia trains between Colchester and Billericay, Sudbury and Marks Tey, and between Braintree and Witham.
- Trains will continue to operate between Norwich Ipswich/Clacton-on-Sea and Colchester, and between Southend Victoria/Billericay and Liverpool Street.
West Anglia main line
Between Cambridge and Ely, and Cambridge and Newmarket from Good Friday, 18th April to Easter Monday, 21st April:
- Work will continue with the Cambridge re-signalling renewal project to prepare it for future commissioning stages.
- At Barnwell Junction, approximately 180 metres of drainage and three drains will be installed.

Service Alterations
- Buses will replace trains between Ely and Cambridge and between Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge.
- Buses will replace CrossCountry trains between Ely/Cambridge and Stansted Airport and Great Northern and Thameslink trains between Cambridge and Ely.
c2c
Between Basildon and Leigh-on-Sea, and between Stanford-le-Hope and Pitsea on Easter Sunday, 20th April
- At Jurgens Lane, West Thurrock, track and level crossing equipment will be renewed.
- At Barking, work will prepare the track for renewal.
- At Grays and Purfleet, rails will be replaced.
Service Alterations
- Buses will replace trains between Basildon, Stanford-le-Hope and Leigh-on-Sea.
- A train shuttle service will operate between Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness.
