TransPennine Express (TPE) is showing continued support in improving the customer experience across its network.
As part of a wider programme of station improvements across its network, three of its stations, Dewsbury, Grimsby Town, and Scunthorpe, are set to receive progressive upgrades over the coming weeks, which will aid accessibility for customers using these stations.
Due to be completed by late April, the work will help those with reduced mobility while making the confines of the stations safer for everyone.
Dewsbury
Work undertaken at Dewsbury will see resurfacing of the access ramp from Milton Walk at the north end, while new handrails will replace existing life-expired rails from the steps from the ticket office, with the same steps set to receive anti-slip treads to improve safety in wet weather.
Other localised resurfacing work will be undertaken around the station premise, including on the bridge landing, cycle tracks and pathways leading to and from the stairways, while in an effort to aid visually impaired passengers, new tactile paving will also be installed.

Grimsby Town
The original footbridge is set to receive new handrails in addition to restoring the paintwork on the bridge structure. The existing step risers and handrails will remain and will be resorted and redecorated.
Scunthorpe
A more user-friendly environment is being installed also consisting of new handrails, with tactile paving being installed on the local zebra crossings and on the steps at the station to aid visually impaired passengers.
“We’re always looking at ways to improve the accessibility of our stations to ensure that all customers can travel with confidence.
These improvements at Dewsbury, Grimsby Town, and Scunthorpe will make a real difference for those who use these stations regularly, making access easier and safer for everyone.”
