Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC) has announced its first Exclusive TT:120 Gauge seven-plank open wagon, in the livery of Franks and Co of Guildford, numbered 12.

KMRC is based in Camborne, Cornwall, and has a branch in Guildford, Surrey, which opened in May 2019.

It has chosen a company based in the latter for the livery of its latest model.

Franks and Co. was a company that traded coal, gravel, and salt. It was based on Bridge Street, close to Guildford.

The company had several of its own private owner wagons, which were in this livery of white lettering on black.

PECO Ltd is producing the first Exclusive model in TT:120 Gauge for the Kernow Model Rail Centre. TT:120 gauge (the ‘TT’ deriving from ‘table top’) is smaller than OO, and has a track gauge of 12mm.

To maximise accuracy, it uses fine plastic moulding with thinner wagon body walls, interior detail, a brake lever that is fitted separately, and brake shoes fitted in line with the free-running metal-tyred spoked wheels.

It is also fitting a standard (removable NEM355) TT:120 coupler compatible with other TT:120 rolling stock available to buy..

The price of the Exclusive model is £21.99. It is available now. Enthusiasts can buy it online and from both Kernow Model Rail Centre branches.

The Kernow Model Rail Centre introduced several new model wagons last year, including an 00 gauge 12-ton seven-plank open wagon in the livery of coal merchant Moger & Co Ltd and 00 Gauge model wagons, the LBSC ‘Open A’, SR Diagram 1369 and 1364 five-plank open wagon range.

“I am pleased that we can announce our first Exclusive TT:120 Gauge local private owner wagon Franks and Co Guildford. This adds a TT:120 Gauge model to the range of Exclusive local based wagons that we have already produced in N, 00 and O gauges.”
