Network Rail is advising passengers who may be planning to travel between Aylesbury and London Marylebone over the next two days that the railway will be closed during the day tomorrow and the next day.
Network Rail will be carrying out essential engineering work, which it expects will improve journeys for both freight and passenger services.
To facilitate this work, the railway will be closed during the day on Tuesday (25 March) and Wednesday (26 March) in the Aylesbury area.
Workers will replace and test signalling cables, and will carry out essential maintenance.

The work will mainly affect Chiltern Railways services. Journeys will take longer than usual, and replacement buses will operate between 7.45am and 3.45pm on both days.
The buses will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham (for connection with London Metropolitan Line services), and between Aylesbury and Princes Risborough.
Other services in the area were also disrupted last month, as HS2 work was taking place.

“I am sorry for the disruption caused while we complete these essential signalling repairs. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this urgent work will help to keep journeys through this area more reliable for years to come.
“If you’re planning to travel, please plan ahead and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route
