The has announced that LNER B1 No. 61306 Mayflower is to visit them for their Legends of Steam Gala.

61306 Mayflower joins the list for next week’s (14-16th March 2025) gala courtesy of Jeremy Hosking and Locomotive Services Group.

Previously, A1 No. 60163 Tornado was due to visit but the A1’s visit was cancelled yesterday due to mainline test runs needing to take place.

61306 joins 34081 92 Squadron, 34092 City of Wells and 44871 to operate an intensive timetable.

Mayflower will arrive off the mainline on Friday afternoon and will attach to a service train to operate for the rest of the day and weekend.

The locomotive will also operate the Dining With Distinction train on the Saturday.

  1. Much as I would love to travel on the ELR the Gala day rover is way too expensive at £39.00 given how tight money is at moment with all the bills and council tax. The ELR should continue to offer normal single and return fares to at least get people to travel. I could afford a single or return Bury to Ramsbottom fare, but £39 is way too dear
