Statement released after train fire in Scotland

has released a statement after a train caught fire this morning near Dundee.

There were no injuries or concerns for the welfare of the staff or passengers onboard.

The 0930 Waverley to service was formed of one of ScotRail’s HST trains, and the fire broke out in one of the train’s power cars.

The fire has been contained and extinguished by the Fire and Rescue Service and is now under investigation.

Whilst trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Aberdeen are now on the move again, trains between Edinburgh and Aberdeen remain suspended.

“We are assisting the emergency services following an incident involving a ScotRail train near Dundee.

“While services between Glasgow Queen Street and Aberdeen are on the move again, services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen remain suspended.”
