The Severn Valley Railway has said that Network Rail is to assist with investigation work following last week’s devastating landslip.
Specialist geotechnical and infrastructure experts are to visit the landslip, which has taken place between Hampton Loade and Bridgnorth.
Ground investigations will need to take place by drilling boreholes to gather data on what is underneath the surface.
The railway says that it is essential that they don’t rush the investigation so that they can put together a robust plan to repair the site so that it is fit for the long term.

Meanwhile, the railway says that they have raised £36,000 in donations from the public after the news broke last week.
Half term trains with the visit of Paddington are set to go ahead, with the railway contacting customers who booked to travel from Bridgnorth to discuss options.
‘We’ve made a number of visits with specialist engineers, and Network Rail are sending a team of geotechnical and infrastructure experts later this week, as part of the partnership agreement we have with them.
‘We’re carefully building a picture of what’s happened, but it’s still early days. We need to begin ground investigations by drilling boreholes to gather geotechnical data of what lies beneath the surface. This is important information that will assist with the engineering design of the repairs.
‘It’s essential that we don’t rush this investigation. We need to gather extensive information, so that we can be sure that we take the most robust and effective measures to repair the embankment for the long term.’
