Northern‘s Rebecca Prendergast has been named Young Professional of the Year at the Rail Business Awards.
Rebecca has been working to make engineering safer and more efficient and was won the award during a ceremony in Manchester on Thursday.
Known as Beckie, she has worked through the ranks and is now senior production manager at Newton Heath TrainCare Centre.
Beckie has been credited for introducing a new automated signalling system that makes it quicker for drivers to drop trains off at the depot.
“It was incredible to receive this award and for my achievements to be noticed,” she said.
