Track renewal in Manchester City Centre will begin next week as part of this year’s Metrolink Improvement Programme.

The work will take place at Street and will take place for 15 days, between the 1st and 16th 2025.

The work means no trams between St Peter’s Square and Market Street or Piccadilly Gardens.

Ashton-under-Lyne services will operate to Victoria, calling at Piccadilly, Piccadilly Gardens, Market Street and en-route. Other cross-city services will divert via Exchange Square.

Passengers can still cross the city by changing trams at Victoria or disembark at -Castlefield to use free bus services to reach stops across the city centre. T

Ian Davies, TfGM’s Interim Network Director for Metrolink, said: “Metrolink is the biggest light rail system in the country, so it’s critically important that we keep investing in the network and making sure it remains a safe, reliable and accessible way to get around Greater Manchester well into the future.

“We will be doing everything we can to minimise for passengers, and I would encourage people to plan ahead and check our website or the Bee Network app for the latest travel information before setting off.”
