Network Rail is warning passengers that engineering work will disrupt West Anglia main line rail services from mid-February.
The London to Cambridge main line route is very busy, and therefore needs frequent maintenance and repair work.
While this work is being carried out, contractors will also be renewing signalling in the Cambridge area.
They will also be working on the construction of the new station at Cambridge South, which began in 2023 and is scheduled to be completed this year.

The work will include:
- preparing for stage 2 commissioning of Cambridge South’s new signalling system
- track work and packing new ballast at Shepreth branch junction and Foxton, following up work carried out over the Christmas period
- renewing switches and crossings at Broxbourne Junction
- maintenance at Broxbourne station
- renewing tracks at Cannons Mill Lane and Harlow Town.
- maintenance work inside Stansted tunnel.
The work will take place over weekends starting on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February and will continue into March.
On various weekends, services on Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink, CrossCountry and Stansted Express will be disrupted.
Full details of the disruption are available on the national rail website and from train operators.
Network Rail is urging passengers to check the latest information before travelling and to allow extra time for their journeys.

“This is an important route for our customers, connecting London to Stansted Airport and Cambridge. We need regular access to keep the railway running well by replacing the parts that get worn out.
“Our maintenance teams are planning to carry out important repairs to replace worn out sections of track to keep trains running efficiently and passengers safe by maintaining stations.
“I’d like to thank all our passengers and customers for their patience while we carry out this weekend work on the mainline.”
Lawrence Bowman, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia
