The Severn Valley Railway (SVR) is promising “plenty of family fun” when popular children’s character Paddington visits during next month’s half-term school break.
From Tuesday 18 until Thursday 20 February 2025, visitors will be able to see Paddington at the Railway’s Engine House Visitor Centre at SVR’s Highley station.
Visitors can pre-book tickets online. These will entitle them to travel to the venue on the Severn Valley Railway from either end of the line, which runs for sixteen miles between Kidderminster in Worcestershire and Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
There are six stations along the route as well as the Visitor Centre at Highley.
Each ticket will include a reserved seat on a heritage train. It will also include timed entry tickets to see Paddington at The Engine House, Highley.
For their return journey, visitors may travel on a train of their choice. Seating will be unreserved.

Paddington will not be the only attraction at The Engine House. There is an outdoor play area, and a travelling post office where kids can help with sorting mail.
Magic shows will take place throughout the day. There will also be the opportunity to play a round of mini golf. The Visitor Centre also has a shop and café.
Severn Valley Railway, which is currently restructuring its organisation, is also running several special events during 2025.
Last year, the Severn Valley Railway celebrated forty years since the opening of its station in Kidderminster. This year, it is celebrating sixty years since work began on preserving the line.

“This is a chance for parents and grandparents to create special memories with their young ones as they travel on board a heritage train to The Engine House, Highley, where Paddington will be waiting to meet them in their pre-booked time slot. It’s going to be a fantastic photo opportunity – marmalade sandwiches optional!”
