From Monday, 21st October, train services in West Yorkshire will be disrupted on weekdays because of ongoing work on the Transpennine Route Upgrade.
The disruption will affect train services between Huddersfield, Dewsbury, and Leeds on Mondays to Fridays from Monday 21st October to Friday, 22nd November.
Weekend services will be unaffected.
These disruptions follow similar ones in April and are to allow foundations and supporting masts for overhead line equipment to be installed along this section of the line as part of its electrification.
At the same time, 3km of track and 420m of drainage will be renewed and improvements made to another 680m of track.
During the five-week disruption, some trains will be diverted and rail-replacement buses will be provided.
Anyone intending to travel should check beforehand at nationalrail.co.uk.
The disruption will also affect the annual Leeds Light Night on Thursday and Friday 24th and 25th October.
TransPennine Express services are expected to run to amended timetables, especially the Liverpool – Newcastle and Manchester – Saltburn / Hull services.
Northern says that its Wigan Wallgate to Leeds services will be diverted via Bradford Interchange and Halifax and won’t serve some stations on its normal route.
A rail replacement bus will run instead of its Halifax to Leeds service.
“The upcoming work between Dewsbury and Leeds will impact weekday services across parts of West Yorkshire, so we’d like to remind customers to plan their journey ahead of time during these dates.
