More services for Anglia region in new train timetable

Greater Anglia is preparing to introduce a new timetable from the 2nd June which will see new services come into operation.

The improvements are to support the ongoing recovery in passenger numbers and different travel patterns across the Anglia network

trains will continue at 4 trains per hour, which was introduced in December 2023.

Additionally, from the 2nd June, the following key improvements will come into operation:

  • Additional evening peak services from to Southend, , Witham and
  • Faster journeys between Norwich and London, with most off peak services completing the journey in 1 hour 47 minutes
  • Off peak Clacton to London services will now call at Hythe for the University of Essex
  • Normal additional summer services to

  1. Greater Anglia should stop using Stansted Express Class 745/1s that were built for the Stansted Express service. And to allow the Class 720 trains to operate to Norwich as 2x 5-Car (10-Car). As the new timetable is to be introduced on Saturday.
