Steam locomotive 34067 Tangmere to head through Oxenholme Lake District this Saturday

34067 Tangmere heads The Northern Belle through Oxenholme Lake District

34067 Tangmere will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Tebay, Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 14th May 2022.

The locomotive is on a section of a special railtour with 34067 Tangmere hauling The Northern Belle.

The tour starts from Leeds behind diesel locomotives. Departing Leeds at 08:35, the train will pass through Dewsbury (08:52), Huddersfield (09:11), Hebden Bridge (10:00), Todmorden (10:06), Rochdale (10:22), Manchester Victoria (10:42), Bolton (11:02), Preston (11:30), Lancaster (11:47) and Carnforth North Junction at 11:58.

Here, 34067 Tangmere is added to the train. Departing here at 12:28, the steam train will make its way through Oxenholme Lake District (12:42), Tebay (12:58), Penrith North Lakes (13:20) and Carlisle at 13:39.

After around 90 minutes in Carlisle, 34067 will depart at 15:12 and will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (15:39), Appleby (15:59), Garsdale (16:37), Ribblehead (16:49), Hellifield (17:08), Clitheroe (17:56), Whalley (18:01), Blackburn (18:26), and Preston (18:56).

Here, Tangmere is taken off the train and is replaced by diesel locomotives. The tour returns to Leeds via Bolton (19:37), Manchester Victoria (19:57), Huddersfield (21:31), Wakefield Kirkgate (22:00), Leeds (22:22).

Meanwhile, 34067 will form 5Z87 1903 Preston to Carnforth Steamtown. Departing Preston at 19:03, it will pass through Lancaster (19:32) and Carnforth (19:37) before arriving back at Carnforth Steamtown at 19:41.
