TransPennine Express believes that its apprenticeship scheme is the key to discovering the next generation of railway superstars.

The rail operator runs services through the North and into Scotland and has four new apprenticeships available in Business Development, IT, Performance and Service Planning departments. The successful candidates will be guaranteed the opportunity to experience a career in rail.

Not only does the scheme provide a chance to experience rail and the many positives it has to offer, apprentices will also work towards gaining a professional qualification whilst achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award as part of the scheme.

Becky Jones, Talent and Apprenticeship Manager for TransPennine Express said:

“We’re looking for the industry’s stars of the future and there has never been a better time to get on board with our apprenticeship scheme.

“Our mission is to deliver the best possible service for our customers and to connect the communities we serve, and we expect our apprentices to get stuck in and help us achieve this. We want enthusiastic, customer-focussed people who are keen to learn and work in a fast-paced, varied industry. In return we’ll provide a fantastic introduction to rail and all the skills needed to carve out a fabulous career.”

Shannon Pilkington joined TransPennine Express (TPE) alongside 13 other apprentices as part of the 2021 apprenticeship intake and has recently secured a permanent position in the Control Team

Shannon said:

“Completing an apprenticeship is the best decision I’ve ever made, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to go into the rail industry.

“It sets you up for your railway career and it’s the best way to learn, especially with TPE because you’re able to experience learning from various departments so you’re going to have some great knowledge when you start a full-time role.”

Those interested in applying for TPE’s apprenticeship scheme will need to apply shortly as the closing date for applications is Monday the 16th of May.

Applications can be made online at: http://firstgroupcareers.com/talentpool/interested-in-our-2022-transpennine-express-apprenticeship-opportunities/36/description
