A classic steam experience from Crewe to Windsor is planned for Jubilee Bank Holiday Friday, 3rd June, on a charity rail tour organised by the Railway Benefit Fund (RBF).

Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia will haul ‘The Royal Charter’ to Windsor to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of loyal service.

Starting from Crewe around 8.30 am, the train will call at Stafford and Nuneaton, and arrive at Windsor in the early afternoon. There will be time for a sightseeing break in Windsor before the charter departs in the late afternoon to arrive back at Crewe late evening.

Passengers will have the choice of First Class non-dining tickets featuring armchair comfort, or opt for First Class Pullman Dining, which includes a sumptuous breakfast, a four-course dinner, both created by an Executive Chef, a glass of champagne, and half a bottle of wine per person. Prices start from £195 and £365, respectively.

The charity is running a Railway Family Week in April. As part of the week, the charity is holding a raffle, kindly sponsored by the Universal Improvement Company. The prize is a table for four with Pullman Dining on board the Royal Charter. Raffle tickets are £10 and the winner will be drawn on Wednesday, 27th April. Raffle tickets available at https://go.eventgroovefundraising.com/royalcharter

‘The Royal Charter’ has been organised by the Railway Benefit Fund, which is a national charity based in Crewe that supports current, former, and retired, railway staff. All funds raised from the charter will help the Railway Benefit Fund continue to support railway workers, as it has been doing since 1858. The charity was granted a Royal Charter in 1949 and has a long history of helping railway families who are going through tough times and need a helping hand.
