The last open day for the G5 Locomotive Company will be held this Saturday, 4th December.
These open days allow the public to see what progress has been made on the new build steam locomotive.
The last open day of the year will be held on Saturday 4th December between 10 am and 1 pm.
These open days prove popular and allow visitors to get up close and personal with parts of the locomotive that normally wouldnt be on show.
Back in October, we made a visit to our friends at the G5 Locomotive Company to see what one of their Open Days was like.
It is rather fascinating to visit one of these open days, as it is rather rare you get a behind the scenes look at a locomotive under construction.
We were able to get up close and personal with 1759, which currently has its smokebox on the frames, whilst the boiler, wheels and cab were also on show.
The Open Day is free and there is no need to pre-book, all that is recommended is to bring a coat and gloves in case it’s a tad cold.
Plus, with Locomotion Shildon being just 5 minutes away, you can take a visit there after going to the G5 open day.
More information will be available on the G5 Company website.
