The East Somerset Railway has announced that their museum reopened on Friday 21th of May 2021.

Volunteers and staff have been busy with the refurbishment and reorganising of the museum and waiting room, thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund providing funding for this much-needed project.

Looking fully refreshed, the museum has seen its layout altered to become better at showing displays and information for a wide range of visitors, including people living with dementia.

This has been achieved by installing a soundscape to play re-enacted conversations, voiced by actors from Evercreech.

Recording typical conversations heard between 1930 up until 1960, it is hoped people living with dementia have memories evoked.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing it is hoped more people with dementia can visit.
