Tom Cruise has been in Yorkshire this week, filming scenes for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7 film.
Hayley Atwell and Vanessa Kirby also joined Tom Cruise at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for the scenes, which featured a mockup steam locomotive.
Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release on the 27th May 2022, having originally planned to be released on the 23rd July 2021 – delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The filming train featured the mockup steam locomotive, which has features similar to a Britannia class and 9Fs.
Two European style coaches were immediately behind the locomotive, and then filming equipment wagons were behind this. Powering the consist was a GB Railfreight Class 66 locomotive.
Filming took place around Levisham station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, with filming now taking place in Derbyshire.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway reopens and resumes trains on the 15th May, with tickets available from the 26th April. More information can be found on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway website.

Aaaand they’ve now just crashed said train off the side off a cliff! Hope it was nothing historic!
Although I’m NOT a fan of the Mission Impossible films… I think it’s Great, to see the newly recovered NYMR (as well as a few locations across the UK) be Visited & Used for on-location filming,
the North Yorkshire Moors Railway has Quite A Surprise Role to Play in this Forthcoming Action-Packed Blockbuster… of whom may have Potential of putting this Yorkshire Heritage Railway once again back in the spotlight, and on the map, to recovery & stardom.
Furthermore, Tom Cruise has come along way ever since he first began on this film franchise.
This is just what we need on the nymr to help make up for income lost during the ongoing pandemic.
What a waste of physical resources – all so Tom can polish his ego and try to claim the filmed crash records from “The Train” and “The General” for himself. Everything this will achieve could be recreated today, just as well, with CGI.
I’m laughing out loud at the downvotes for pointing out that wasting resources and damaging the environment throwing a replica train off a cliff is something that ought not to be acceptable when the same coudl be done using CGI.
I guess that some of you never got beyond the phase of smashing your toys up in the garden – or is this the Little Tom Tom Fan Club?
