The Restoration of GWR 3814 Group has told RailAdvent that it has launched an appeal for funds to help the restoration of GWR 3814 progress.

With last weeks news of the Llangollen Railway inviting the bank to appoint receivers, the group says that they still have a tender unfinished.

The GWR 3814 Project and the have a hire agreement in place where the tender for 3814 would be overhauled and used with GWR ‘Grange' No. 6880 ‘Betton Grange' until a tender could be completed for the loco.

This is all whilst GWR 3814 was undergoing an overhaul at the Llangollen Railway, but the locomotive has since left the railway for pastures new at Northern Steam Engineering Limited in Stockton-on-Tees.

The Restoration of GWR 3814 has told RailAdvent that they have “been notified that Llangollen have filed for insolvency which leaves our tender unfinished and therefore the Hire Agreement with Betton Grange in jeopardy hence loss of income.”

If you would like to donate towards the work on 3814 or its tender, please donate via the GWR 3814 website.
