Brodie Engineering and Eversholt Rail have announced the overhaul programme for the Class 320 fleet is on course to be completed on time for November 2021.
22 of the Class 320s will receive an overhaul between January 2020 and November 2021, modernising the fleet and providing vital maintenance to key components across the units, such as traction equipment.
This work should, therefore, reduce the amount of downtime and breakdowns in the future.
All work is being carried out in Kilmarnock, where Brodie Engineering’s Bonnyton Works is based.
Client Relations Director at Eversholt Rail Paul Sutherland said: “We are delighted with the strong, collaborative working between Eversholt Rail, Brodie Engineering and ScotRail to deliver the overhaul of our Class 320 fleet. Even through these extraordinary times, Brodie Engineering has delivered to plan and to a high standard.
We look forward to continuing with Brodie Engineering and ScotRail during this programme of works to deliver safe and reliable trains back to Scotland’s passengers.”
Managing Director at Brodie Engineering Gerry Hilferty said: “We are delighted to be supporting Eversholt Rail and ScotRail in this prestigious program of works and look forward to developing long term collaborative working relationships with both clients moving forward.”
Syeda Ghufran, ScotRail Engineering Director, said: “We are thrilled that the overhaul of our fleet of Class 320 trains is progressing on time and that 50 per cent of the work has already been completed.
This is another excellent example of how our refurbishment partnership with Eversholt Rail and Brodie Engineering allows us to provide improved comfort and reliability for passengers in the Strathclyde area.”
Transport Scotland Rolling Stock Sponsor (acting) Dougie Andrews said: “We are pleased to note the progress of these works and this partnership approach which will not only deliver passenger benefits but also retain high-quality jobs in Scotland during these difficult times.
Ensuring we provide reliable fleets helps make rail services more attractive and supports the Scottish Government aspirations to reach its Net Zero targets by encouraging modal shift.”
