Rufford Station, Lancashire, now benefits from a new waiting shelter for passengers thanks to Northern and their ‘Better Way to Go’ programme.
The programme is improving services all across the Northern network, and includes the following upgrades:
- Tap In, Tap Out Smartcard system to provide Flexi ticketing
- Industry-leading mobility scooter policy
- Supplying bodycams for station staff
- Upgrading CCTV systems
- Overhauling car parks
- Lengthening platforms
Each of these improvements can better passenger experience and safety.
Regional Director at Northern Chris Jackson said: “We are working hard to make sure our stations are safe, accessible and welcoming places for passengers. Even small changes like installing a new shelter can make a big impact for our customers using the Northern network.”
“Our Better Way to Go’ campaign demonstrates the hard work that has taken place as we continue to transform rail travel in the north, and I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved.”
