Avanti West Coast has unveiled Class 390 No. 390134 in its new livery for the operator.

The work was undertaken by Aura Graphics at Alstom's Oxley depot this week.

Further 390s are set to be rolled out in the new livery, after Avanti West Coast took over from Virgin Trains in December 2019.

has told RailAdvent that it is likely that 2 Class 390 Pendolinos will be rolled out in the new livery every week.

390134 now joins 390155 and 390156 as the current fleet of Pendolino's in Avanti West Coast livery.

The new livery is the first stage of the refurbishment plan for the Pendolinos, which will update the look and feel of the train.

  • They will still be the same cramped inside trains with small windows and seats not lined up with windows. I shall continue to avoid them and go to Glasgow by TPE.

  • All I’ll say is , for all that’s said about him, Branson did manage to make things that are dull look exciting, vibrant, youthful, energetic etc. Brash bright red everywhere, you couldn’t miss it, you wouldn’t forget it. Is mid blue( car salesman’s doom blue) not a retreat into the mediocre?

  • The Class 805 and Class 807 IETs that Avanti West Coast have ordered will also have the new livery once they come into service from 2022. And the Class 221s to be cascaded to Crosscountry.

  • As 2020 basically marks 50 yrs of the APT, I would think that AWC would have a pendo painting into the APT-E blue and grey livery.
