James Packman, Chairman of the Helston Railway Preservation Company Ltd who operate the Helston Railway in Cornwall, has released an appeal to raise funds to help the railway survive the impact of COVID-19.
Like every other heritage railway in the UK, Helston Railway is closed due to COVID-19 and cannot run train services, which provided the majority of the line’s income.
Despite this, bills still need to be paid, and although volunteers carry out all the work leaving no wages to pay, expenses such as rent and insurance need to be paid.
The railway has applied for £10,000 through Government’s Emergency Funding Grant, but conditions of the grant mean more support is needed. Therefore, James Packman is asking for your help, in the form of donations, during this difficult time.
