Network Rail has announced that new social distancing measures will be put in place this week at Piccadilly to keep passengers safe during the Coronavirus crisis.

Manchester Piccadilly‘s station team has installed vinyl stickers on the floor around the station to highlight the two-metre distance people should keep between themselves and others.

The stickers form a grid leading towards the ticket barriers, as well as marking out spaces for passengers to wait in whilst queuing for tickets or information.

announced this week that NHS staff and care staff would receive free parking during the coronavirus crisis.

These guides have been put in place alongside increased regular cleaning at the station.

What did the officials say?

Scott Green, station manager at Manchester Piccadilly, said:

“The new stickers will make it really easy for passengers to protect themselves when using the station for essential travel.

“Each sticker has been measured to be two metres apart from the next, in line with government advice. Now passengers don't have to guess, they can be sure.”

  • Well done to the NHS, Network Rail, Police, Fire Brigades, Ambulances, Paramedics, Coast Guards, Nurses, Doctors, Scientists, Delivery Drivers, Supermarket staff and the good samaritans for helping us all out during the Coronavirus crisis in the UK and worldwide.

  • This is all very well but how do you maintain that gap when on the train or on a crowded platform?
