DO NOT TRAVEL: No Grand Central trains this Sunday due to Storm Ciara

has confirmed that they will not be running any trains this Sunday, as Storm Ciara takes effect.

Exceptionally high winds caused by Storm Ciara are expected to impact train services throughout the country on Sunday 9 February.

Due to this weather forecast for Storm Ciara, Grand Central will NOT be running any trains on Sunday 9 February 2020.

Passengers with Grand Central tickets dated Sunday 9 February can use tickets on either Saturday 8 February or Monday 10 February on any Grand Central service.

Passengers who chose not to travel will be entitled to a refund.

Grand Central tickets will NOT be valid on any other train operators (e.g. Hull Trains, LNER, Northern, East Midlands Railway)

Grand Central runs trains from London Kings Cross to Bradford, Halifax, Doncaster and Sunderland via the East Coast Main Line.

  • I struggle to understand why GC can’t operate despite LNER and most other operators still operating. Luckily it doesn’t affect me anyway!
