World famous steam locomotive heading through Blackburn this Saturday

Steam locomotive 60103 Flying Scotsman will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Blackburn and Settle on Saturday 14th December 2019.

The A3 locomotive is hauling ‘The Flying Scotsman Christmas Dalesman’ this Wednesday, operated by West Coast Railways.

Starting in Liverpool Lime Street at 06:39, Prescot (06:56), St Helens Central (07:02), Wigan North Western (07:23), Bamber Bridge (08:17), Blackburn (08:37) before heading through Clitheroe (09:25) before her attack of the 1/100 climb to Ais Gill summit via Settle (10:37) and Ribblehead (10:54), then its downhill to Carlisle – arriving into Carlisle at 12:38.

At Carlisle, the locomotive and coaching stock will head to Upperby Loop where the locomotive will be turned and prepped ready for the return journey. Departing Carlisle at 15:18, it will head via Penrith (15:42) to Eden Valley Goods Loop and then on to Shap Summit (16:42) and Tebay (16:50), before arriving into Carnforth Goods Loop at 17:20.

Here, 60103 will be taken off the tour for the rest of the trip to be hauled by a West Coast Railways Diesel locomotive.
