On Merseyrail, the festivities are in full swing with Father Christmas appearing alongside carol singers up and down the network this December.

On Monday, Father Christmas delivered a special gift to Liverpool Central’s Mtogo store. This signalled the launch of a special competition across three stations.

Mystery gifts are to be situated at Mtogo stores in Liverpool Central, Liverpool South Parkway and Southport stations.

In order to be in a chance of winning £200 worth of high street vouchers, passengers must guess what the gift is.

The competition is to be running from 2nd to 23rd December and passengers can enter by filling out a form which from one of the three stations.

Along with delivering presents, Father Christmas is leaving his sleigh at home and travelling by Merseyrail trains on the 7th and 8th December from 11:00 to 13:00, checking tickets along the way and wishing all customers a merry Christmas.

Also attending the festivities, carol singers will be performing Christmas classics. They are set to perform at the following stations:

Liverpool Central –

  • 3 December 10:00-12:00 and 19:00-20:00
  • 5 December 19:00 onwards
  • 8, 19 & 20 December times TBC

Hamilton Square

  • 5 & 19 December 17:00 onwards

  • 22 December throughout the day

Merseyrail passengers will also be able to enjoy a free Costa hot drink on Sunday 8th and Sunday 15th December at participating Costas across the network, and to add to the festive cheer across the Liverpool City Region, Merseyrail passengers will be able to enjoy late night and Boxing Day trains.

With return tickets priced from just £2.10 and Day Savers available to purchase online, Merseyrail is the perfect and festive way to get around this Christmas.

The rail operator is to be running a special service between 09:00 and 19:00 on Boxing Day, calling at selected stations across the network.

There will also be late night trains on the two weekends before Christmas, which will help passengers get home from festive events from all across the city.

What did the officials say?
