A brief history of 6233 Duchess of Sutherland
6233 Duchess of Sutherland is a London, Midland and Scottish Railway Princess Coronation class of locomotive. It was designed by William Stanier and was built in 1938. It was retired by British Railway’s in 1964 where it was displayed at a Butlins Holiday Camp in Scotland before being loaned to the Bressingham Steam Museum. Following a change of ownership and a Heritage Lottery grant, 6233 steamed again in 2001 following overhaul by the PRCLT.
