Thanks to a new travel connection, Caledonian Sleeper is now making it easier than ever for Londoners to experience the beauty of Scotland’s islands this summer.
The overnight rail service is connecting adventurers with the Scottish coast by using a complimentary coach link that is exclusively available to guests.
Running between the train station at Crianlarich and the coastal town of Oban, the link places guests within reach of the Hebridean islands, which includes Mull, Islay, Lewis and Harris.
Oban is a highly popular destination for tourists, along with being known for being the gateway to the isles, with ferry services to many islands off the West Coast of Scotland.
The Oban bus service, which is to be operated by West Coast Motors and funded by Transport Scotland, will operate Monday to Saturday mornings from Crianlarich railway station to Oban.
The services will reflect the Caledonian timetable. A return service from Oban will run at 19:40 on Sundays and at 20:30 Monday to Friday.
What did the officials have to say?
Ryan Flaherty, Serco’s Managing Director at Caledonian Sleeper, said:
“Caledonian Sleeper is a fantastic way for guests from the south of England to explore all the delights Scotland has to offer.
The islands off the west coast are hugely popular tourist destinations and we are making it easier than ever to get there. Following an overnight journey with Caledonian Sleeper, our complimentary coach service will take guests to Oban where they can explore the beautiful town or begin their island adventure with the help of CalMac Ferries.”
Andrew MacNair, Head of Marketing at CalMac Ferries, said:
“CalMac Ferries is delighted to work with Caledonian Sleeper and West Coast Motors again to make it easier for people travelling to and from Oban and the islands we serve get to their end destination.”
