With the school year coming to an end, families are now planning for their next train adventure to visit all the wonderful destinations along the east coast.
The end of the school year also means the return of the LNER Summer Academy.
The academy is to run from Monday 5 to Friday 9 August. The Academy is aimed at 16 to 19 year olds who are keen to learn more about the rail industry along with developing skills they can take forward into future employment.
There will be a range of sessions across the week and will culminate with a presentation day and the possibility to apply for live jobs within LNER.
Last year Rene Kotlar attended the academy and he successfully applied to be the Community Engagement Apprentice here at LNER.
What did they say?
Rene had this to say:
“I had no idea where my career would take me when the Summer Academy came knocking at my door. I had zero experience about the rail industry but after the first day I was curious and excited about what it could offer.
“The amount of different departments surprised me – it’s not just about the drivers and crew. So far it’s been a very caring industry with plenty of opportunities for career progression. I genuinely believe the Summer Academy changed my life and it’s an opportunity young people should not miss.”
