Great Western Railway has announced that hundreds of new, cheap train tickets are being created by the train operator.
The new tickets bring more affordable journeys to some of the UK’s most popular destinations.
The new tickets being introduced by GWR could save you over £40 on journeys from Oxford.
GWR is working in partnership with Greater Anglia and Greater Northern, with some new fares having already been created, with Advance fares to Cambridge and Canterbury now available.
Additionally, over a hundred new Advance fares are also being created by GWR for journeys from Oxford to leading destinations outside of the GWR rail network.
Starting from £13.50 in Standard and £25 in First Class, passengers who hold a valid railcard may also be entitled to even more money off.
Adding to GWR’s existing Advance fares, the new tickets will allow you to travel for cheaper beyond the GWR network to destinations such as:
- Brighton
- Cambridge
- Canterbury
- Dover
- Eastbourne
In addition to the new rail fares, a through ticket incorporating bus and rail travel to/from the Oxford Westgate shopping Centre, in partnership with the Oxford Bus Company, has also been created. For some journeys, the Oxford Westgate return ticket only costs £7.50.

Be better off with having a rail pass which does allow rail passengers to save 1/3 off rail fares either via the app or brought online. Or at a station ticket office/kiosk.
