The South Devon Railway has announced their second visitor for their upcoming diesel gala this November.
The diesel gala will be held from Friday 2nd November to Sunday 4th November 2018.
The Class 08, No.08483 will be making its visit to the South Devon Railway from Laira TMD, where it is normally seen shunting carriages at the mainline depot.
This, therefore, means it is a rare opportunity to have a ride behind this veteran locomotive. It is seen in BR Black livery, and wears the name ‘Neil’ and the legend below ‘Neil Morgan, 1984-2014, Team Leader, OOC’.
The Class 08s visit is thanks to Great Western Railway.
08483 joins the line up of Class 14 D9526 visiting from the West Somerset Railway, and the first passenger use of Class 25 D7535 since becoming a resident at Buckfastleigh. Other home fleet locomotives of Class 09 D3721, Class 25 D7612, Class 33 D6501 and “Bubblecar” W55000 will also be in operation.
There will be an intensive timetable with services commencing by 0900 each day and running into the evening on both Friday and Saturday, and until 1800 on Sunday. Real Ale will also be available on trains.
