Steam locomotive Lyn arrives at the Welsh Highland Railway

The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways have announced that steam locomotive Lyn has arrived at Dinas ahead of SuperPower 2018.

Lyn is set to be the star guest at this years SuperPower event, which celebrates the 21st anniversary of the .

Lyn is making its visit from the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway.

You can catch Lyn in action this weekend at the Welsh Highland Railway's SuperPower Gala alongside Garratt's 143 and 138 (all subject to availability). Also running will be sister locomotive ‘Lyd' as well as other locomotives.

A brief history of Lyn

Lyn is a new build replica of the orignal Lyn. The original was scrapped when the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway closed in 1935. Construction of the new locomotive began in 2009 when the L&B announced the project to build a modern replacement for Lyn.

Final assembly of the locomotive took place at Alan Keef Ltd, and Lyn made her debut at the Lynton and Barnstaple Gala in September 2017.
