The Summer Holidays are upon us, with Bank Holiday just around the corner, and if you are in Norfolk, then we would recommend a day out to the Bure Valley Railway.
Aylsham provides the perfect place to start your journey. The market town has quaint shops and refreshments in the cafe. Blickling Hall is just ten minutes drive from the station, providing an excellent exploring attraction for the little ones.
Redwings Horse Sanctuary is nearby, allowing all of the family to get up and close with the horses and donkeys. Entry is free here and their schedule is full of activities to enjoy.
The first stop on your steam train is Brampton, look out of the window to see the fields where the site of the largest pottery production in Roman Britain once stood.
Buxton is your next station stop, here, you can explore the village and its host of walking routes. Stoll along the River Bure to wear out those little legs. On return to the station, flag the next train down to take you to your next stop of Coltishall.
At Coltishall, you will find it is a popular mooring point for boats. It is a 15-minute walk, but it is a great spot to watch the boats.
The final station is Wroxham. Here, there are plenty of chances to get on the water. Why not take advantage of the train and broads cruise ticket?
