The Severn Valley Railway has announced that diesel locomotives will replace steam locomotives in operating their advised timetable.
As readers in the UK will know, Britain is currently in a heat wave, with the sun shining for weeks and no rain for a while. This means the ground is dry and causes havoc when steam locomotives work hard as the release hot embers from their chimney, caused the dry grass to catch fire.
The heritage diesel locomotives will continue to take passengers from either Bridgnorth or Kidderminster to the halts and museums along the line.
A small steam locomotive will be in operation at Bewdley station operating footplate rides at weekends.
Diesels will replace steam until at least Wednesday 18th July 2018.
