The Severn Valley Railway, based in Kidderminster, has announced that it is all change for the visiting Class 47 diesel locomotive that will be attending the line for the upcoming Diesel Gala. The Gala will be held from May 17th until May 19th, 2018.
This morning, the news of Class 47 No. 47292 was released that the locomotive has failed its transit inspection.
This means that the Severn Valley Railway has had to withdraw this locomotive from the lineup for the Diesel Festival.
However, after a few hours looking for a replacement locomotive, the Severn Valley Railway has announced that Class 47 No.47712 ‘Lady Diana Spencer' will now be taking part in the Spring Diesel Festival.
47712 is currently owned by the Crewe Diesel Preservation Group.
The 47 now joins Class 20 No. 20007, Class 20 No. 20142, Class 20 No. 20189, Class 37 No. 37688, Class 42 ‘Warship' No. D832 Onslaught, Class 45 No. 45041 Royal Tank Regiment, Class 55 ‘Deltic' No. 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier, Class 56 No. 56XXX, Class 66 No. 66XXX, Class 73/1 No. 731XX, and Class 88 No. 88XXX which will all be in action over the weekend alongside the home fleet of Class 08, Class 09, Class 14 No. D9551, Class 33 No. 33108, Class 42 No. D821 Greyhound, Class 50s No. 50031 Hood, No. 50035 Ark Royal and No. 50049 Defiance and Class 52 No. D1015 Western Champion.
