Network Rail is urging members of the public using level crossings in Lancashire to take care at level crossings, this comes as a new timetable comes into use next month.
The new timetable includes the provision for extra services on a Sunday and some additional changes to current services.
Timetables changes come into effect from 20th May 2018.
The new timetable changes will affect user manned crossings and footpath crossings on the following train line:
- Morecambe to Heysham
What did the officials say?
Ben Parish, route level crossing manager for Network Rail, said:
“We know when people use a level crossing frequently they often assume they know the timetable and when trains pass through. “The new timetable changes will affect level crossing users in rural areas as there will be more trains running, especially on a Sunday.
“We are urging people living and working in rural areas to be aware of the changes. Level crossing users are reminded to always adhere to safety measures and advice provided to cross the railway line correctly.”
